It is an international competition that was started in 2016 and continues to gain in popularity and attendance. The LAUSANNE SWIM CUP originated from the vision of three individuals within the Lausanne Aquatics Club Committee. Their vision was to create a high level swimming competition in Lausanne, the Olympic Capital and home of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which would welcome Elite Swimmers worldwide while also giving young athletes from the French speaking region of Switzerland an opportunity to compete alongside these amazing athletes.
Today, the LAUSANNE SWIM CUP is labelled FINA and attracts many of the best swimmers around the world due to the event’s spectacular atmosphere and prize money totaling 120,000 CHF.
Two Olympic champions and a world record holder, international and Swiss medallists, about thirty Olympic athletes and more than 280 participants dived into the waters of the Vaudoise arena aquatic center during the 5th edition of the Lausanne Swim Cup, which took place from February 24 to 26.
More than 2’000 spectators attended the 16 events including four categories (all ages and youth, men and women), with about 12 qualifications and up to 20 finals per day.
